Whilst you may enjoy eating home cooked meals that you have prepared from scratch, they are not always the most fun to create. Food prep takes time, takes effort and quite often makes a mess. But the good news is that there are lots of things that you can do to make it a little bit quicker and easier for you.

To help to inspire you to cook more and enjoy your home cooked food, we have put together the top 4 kitchen tricks to help to make food prep quicker.

Invest in the gadgets

Kitchen gadgets such as a quick dicer are made for a reason. They are designed to make food prep that little bit easier for you, so why not make use of them? There are so many out there on the market that you are sure to find the right one for you and what you like to cook.

Prepare in advance

Now, we know that we are all short on time, but one of the best things that you can do when it comes to food prep, is to prep in advance. Take some time out of your weekend, when you are not rushing around, to think about the meals that you are going to cook over the next few days and see if there is anything that you can prepare in advance. This will not only help you to think about what you are cooking, but, if you find that there are some things that you can prep in advance, then you will save yourself some time.

Get everyone involved

You might find that there are no shortcuts that you can take when it comes to preparing and cooking a meal at home. So, why not ask for a little helping hand in getting it ready to eat? See if you can get your family involved in the food prep, not only will this help you to get the dinner cooked quicker, but it is also a nice thing to do together, spending some time together and passing on important life skills to your children (or perhaps some adults that need a bit of teaching in the kitchen).

Use foil or paper to cut down on the need to clean

Cleaning can take lots of time and can often put you off of cooking a meal in general. So, if you can find a way to cut this down, then it is only going to be good news for you. One top tip is to use parchment paper or foil on baking trays, as this will ensure that the food doesn’t stick and will mean that things are much easier to clean too.

There is nothing quite like the satisfaction of knowing that you prepared and cooked a meal from scratch at home. But, if we can make things easier for ourselves during the prep and during the clean up afterward, then surely this is worth doing? Try out some of these tips for yourself and see if it can make your time in the kitchen that little bit easier to bear.
