So it is perfectly normal to get sucked into this vacuum of bad news, feeling overwhelmed by negative thoughts and feelings of helplessness. Although there is light at the end of the tunnel. It isn’t all doom and gloom while the situation is undeniably difficult right now it won’t last forever. Nothing ever does. Here is how you can keep positive during the lockdown:
Be in pursuit of a hobby
Now is the perfect time to use the extra time we have to explore those talents and hobbies.
It is so important to ‘focus’ on enjoyable things that you can do under these current circumstances and restrictions. So stop ruminating about what you can’t do and focus on what you can do in this moment.
Listen to music
Music has such an immeasurable impact on our mood and in fact actually helps you take a step back and reframe your thoughts and feelings. It is said 88% of people use music to help improve their mood and overall mental well-being.
Keep a gratitude journal
Practicing gratitude helps to increase overall feelings of happiness and positivity. So each night write down three things you are grateful for, so you can sleep peacefully without thinking about all the negative things that may have occurred in the day – shift your mindset
Limit your news consumption
We can become anxious and overwhelmed with the news at the moment. The more we hear bad news the more it will affect our ability to make balanced judgements on the situation. So why not limit your news consumption to two times a day instead.
Exercise, move about and get some air
Exercise is proven to release the happy chemical – endorphins. So dance like no one is watching and boost your mood!
