Is Diet Or Exercise More Important?

We know that diet and exercise more often than not go hand in hand. Any lifestyle plan is going to recommend that you don’t just cut down on your calorie intake, but that you also make sure that you are active too.

So, which is more important? The truth is that they both have pros and cons and figuring them out is the best way to make sure that you can see the best results possible.

The importance of diet

Watching what you eat and how many calories that you take in are key when it comes to making sure that you lose weight. The lower amount of calories that you take in, over the basic rate that everyone needs, means that your body will have less to burn off.

Not only this, but keeping to a good diet will mean that you feel better too. It will encourage you to get active and to make sure that you are taking proper care of yourself from the inside out.

The importance of exercise

We are all told that exercise is important in our lives and that we should be doing everything that we can to ensure that we feel as healthy as possible. Not only is exercise good for a healthy mind and body, but it also goes hand in hand with weight loss too. You want to aim to burn more calories in a day then what you eat, as this will reduce your body fat. If you are someone who doesn’t exercise, then all the diet changes in the world are not going to help if you stay seated all day.

Whereas on the days that you are running, walking or doing a fitness workout, these will be what help you to lose the weight and tone up.

So, which is more important?

The truth is, to really see the benefit you need to do both. Now, we know that this might be a bit of a cop-out, but it is true. Without exercise, any dieting that you do will often be a “crash diet” which means that you may lose weight whilst you are watching what you eat, but this will end up with you putting on weight in the future as it is harder to maintain.

Without dieting, any exercise that you do, whilst keeping you fit and healthy (which is reason enough to do it) won’t have that much of an impact on your weight, which could leave you feeling frustrated.

If you are planning on trying one of the other, then we say why not do both? Not only will you feel amazing because you are eating better, but you will look amazing too thanks to all the exercise that you are doing.
